This Fall a new trend is literally rolling up and we already dare to predict: it is going to be huge! It is the SKATE STYLE. Even now, in summer, the first bits and pieces of this trend can be seen, like for example with skater shoes, which are currently a big topic in fashion. For the coming season, the style jumps over the complete look. Therefore, there are many different ways of how to approach it.

Designers incorporated the Skate Style in their looks by adding typical patterns and elements such as checks and studs to rather feminine cut pieces. Black, white and red is the followed color scheme of the checkerboard which emerges on skirts, jumpers, shirts and shoes.
Actually brought to fashion by VANS 40 years ago, it is safe to say that this typical chess-print originates from the skating (fashion) scene. “Its beginnings come from rebellious youth doodling on the sidewalls of their shoes. Vans took notice of the recurring checker trend in the late ’70s, and a print idea was born.”, as Rian Pozzebon, Vans’s director of footwear color and trend, points out.
For Resort 2017 fashion designers bring back the checkerboard and boost the Skater trend, that will be a huge topic for fall/winter (as we are aware of since fashion week), together with many others 90s-inspired trends. Punk, Grunge, Hip Hop and Skater Style are melting together this fall and we can hardly await to mix and match several pieces to create the ultimate 90s look.
