When it comes to this years footgear, trendy over the knee boots are something you can’t get around. Be it super slim models made of soft velour leather, western style boots with fringes or more extravagant options with a slight plateau and patent leather finish, there’s a style for every taste!
I think overknee boots really look better when they are flats, because the flat sole kind of softens the sexiness of the boot. Also, you have to be very careful when styling an overknee boot with heels, to not end up looking… well, let’s say not classy, if you know what I mean.
Overall, I would always opt for a rather plain outfit when wearing your over the knee boots. For example, tight leather pants look mighty fine with overknees, but make sure to wear something like a chunky knit or loose white shirt on top and add an oversized wool coat to the mix for a classy, yet stylish appearance during daytime. At night, you can of course be more daring if you go out
In my case, I wore a short but loose and swinging mini skirt from Zara with black leather over the knees from Pat Calvin. I paired them with a burgundy cashmere jumper from Stefanel and a grey denim shirt underneath, plus an old bouclé jacket from Zara and my grey cashmere beanie from Cos. Ergo, items with a fluffy, woolly structure that are high-necked and look cosy.
So you see, it’s just a question of styling your outfit to make over the knee boots look not only pretty darn good, but also appropriate if worn during the day.
