We are most ourselves when we think people are not watching, but Sally Nixon gives us a peek into the secret life of women everywhere with her beautifully made illustrations. Consider this the anti-Instgram, a safe place where there is no filter allowed.
The project started about a year ago and Nixon says the majority of her inspiration came from her everyday life – what she did when she was away from the prying eyes of everyday society. She says: “Women are constantly being judged for how they look and act. It can be exhausting. I wanted to show women when they are completely and utterly comfortable and not concerned with who is watching them or making opinions about them,” with this series she is offering the recognition that real women are not usually allowed in this funny yet poignant set of illustration.
Are you guilty of any of these? We sure are!
