Twin brothers Fletcher and Wyatt Shears don’t just look fucking cool in their women’s clothes – they’ve also been making great garage neo-punk since 2011. This has drawn the attention of no one less than Hedi Slimane who once again was on the hunt for another young, grungy – and skinny – band. They didn’t even know what Saint Laurent was at all, but the fashion house paid them a net sum of money to walk in the AW13 menswear show. Men’s clothes? Lame! The black goth-y dress and full on make-up Fletcher is wearing in the video to “What We Are” is much more authentic – part glam, part ’50s housewife. “Why strive to be a part of a scene when you can create your own?”
These days the band is with Burger Records with the LP “The Life And Times Of A Paperclip”. Some tracks of them are 15 seconds long, fast, minimal and not recorded properly which makes them sound that effortlessly cool. “We walk quickly. We dress quickly. We work quickly. We record quickly.” We quickly liked it. The neo-punk brothers from Calif are planning on doing gigs in the UK later this year and we can´t wait to see their unconcerned craziness live.
