How many times have you fallen in love with a pair of shoes but something just wasn’t right? Either it was missing something or too much going on. Well, what if we gave you the power to change that. When you create your own tassels for a pair of shoes you put the main aesthetic elements into your own hands. You have the liberty to be your own designer – it is fun and easier than you might imagine!

What you’ll need to get started:

  • a pair of moccasins… we like this pair but you can use any
  • assorted leather remnants
  • tacky glue
  • sharp scissors
  • ruler

Your leather pieces may come in strange shapes, the first step you want to do is to make them perfect strips so that you can easily form even tassels.

Turn the leather over and mark a small line across the top lengthwise.

They should like this!

Cut the last piece of fringe off of the end. Fold it in half and glue it to the inside of the leather. Run the glue across the top of the leather and tightly roll.

Hold the tassel firmly for a couple of minutes to ensure it is dried completely.

Lace as many as you desire onto your shoes

Put the tassels as close to each other as possible and then tie a tight knot.

Now that you know how to do it, will you try this at home?
