Everyone knows about Miu Miu’s ballerinas from their Spring/Summer 16 collection: Nude Nappa Leather with black studded straps, a little bow on the upper, brought to perfection with a looped strap that ends in a bow above the ankle. Can you picture these beauties? The whole fashion world, It-girls and self-declared fashionistas all around the globe went crazy for this shoes. And it is true, they are really beautiful and special. The simple design derives from authentic ballet shoes for dancing purposes. It is very basic, except for the studded strap, which is for sure a strong and powerful contrast to the feminine rest of the shoe but (to be brutal honest) we could easily skip on it.
Big fashion retailers copied the Miu Miu flats already which is nice as a cheap alternative to the catwalk pair, but in the end not very original. Anyway, we do love the chic and classy ballerinas and WANT them. So… Time for an other DIY!
Instead of splurging a horrendous amount of money or buying an imitation, we want to make this flats ourselves! This DIY is easy and fun and it really works! We tried it for you and documented our steps. See it yourself and ‘create’ your own pair!
What you’ll need:
- a pair of ballet flats you like (we choose this one by UNISA, as they come very close to the original)
- two ribbons (in different colors), that match the color of the flats
