Overknee boots are not really something completely new this season… BUT this huge hype around the shoes with the long upper came for us quite surprisingly. While they have been a nice and fancy add-on to fall and winter wardrobes in the past years, overkneee boots are now a must have! On the catwalks they have been omnipresent, from Vêtements over Givenchy to Elie Saab – Overknee Boots are definitely a keypiece in the designer’s collections and we predict they will be a big street style trend of the winter.
After making clear, that we urgently need a pair of these boots, we need to take a look at the models that are trending. The most versatile and classic item would be a black suede boot with a short block heel. It’s an all time favorite that goes with pretty much everything and you won’t be tired of it even the year after next! Anything black and all kinds of brown and beige hues are very in, toes are pointy or round. While the upper is rather simple, there is some variation among the sole and heel style. There are flat models with crêpe or treaded soles, as well as pointy or block heels. For the materials, suede and smooth leather are the leading substances.
How are Overknees styled? Best with a dress or a skirt! The longer the boots, the shorter the bottom can be. In this case the shoes sort of work as a pant (or a pant replacement). The look in general should not be to short – to avoid that ‘cheap’ styling a long jacket or coat works wonders: It immediately provides an elegant and sophisticated attire. For a more playful look, go for styling à la Rebecca Minkoff: Striped dress and short leather jacket.
